What is high-density printing?

High-density uses a thick stencil and multiple ink passes to build the print up off the garment. Where puff foams into a soft rounded shape, high-density stays firm and geometric — you get a raised print with crisp shoulders and a smooth, often glossy top surface.

A clear high-density gloss is a favorite variation: printing a raised clear layer over (or beside) your art for a subtle, wet-look shine and a strong tactile hit without changing the color underneath.

High-density transfers

The same raised, dimensional effect is also available as a heat-applied transfer for garments or small runs that aren’t ideal for direct screen printing. If you need the tactile 3D look on mixed items or lower quantities, we’ll steer you between direct high-density and a high-density transfer — and for full-color raised graphics, DTF is often the better route.

What’s the difference between high-density and puff?

Puff foams up into a soft, rounded, spongy shape. High-density is built up in solid layers for a firm block with sharp, near-vertical edges and a smooth top. Puff feels squishy; high-density feels solid.

What is clear high-density gloss?

It’s a raised layer of clear ink that adds a glassy, wet-look shine and a tactile bump — either over your artwork or as a stand-alone tonal design on the same-color shirt.

Can I get the raised look on just a few pieces?

Yes — a high-density transfer delivers the raised effect without a full screen setup, which suits small runs or mixed garments. Tell us your quantity and we’ll recommend the best route.

Is high-density durable?

Very. The thick, fully cured ink layer is tough and holds its shape through normal wash-and-wear. Wash inside-out on cold to keep the surface looking sharp.
